Comment Ukai fishing on the Uji-gawa River (Ujigawa no Ukai) in Kyoto. Ukai in general is performed at night. The Uji river is famous with the cormorant fishing. By the riverside is the statue of Murasaki Shikibu, who is the writer of the Tale of Genji. The Tale of Genji, which is one of the famous classical literature in Japan, was set in Uji.

Comment The collaboration of the illumination of Kiyomizu Temple and the autumn leaves visible from the stage is the highlight. Kiyomizu-dera is designated as a UNESCO world heritage site categorized as a Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto. Every year, it is illuminated for a limited period of time too.

Location  1 Kinkakuji-cho, Kita-ku, Kyoto-shi, Kyoto                      Comment It’s shining in gold. Kinkakiuji is registered as World Heritage since 1994. Kinkaku-ji is made from 3 floors. The second and third floor is covered with gold which is why this temple is called “Kinkaku-ji”.
